We're grateful to live in color. But life isn't always a pretty color, and we're here to bring a light, relaxed hue to a facet of your business that can often be dark and grey. When we started, we observed a gross disconnect between the people who own trucks and the people who service them. We're good mechanics, but that part's easy for us. The real value is in taking the parts of the business that don't align with your needs, and reinventing them to create greater value for you. We strive to remove risk, uncertainty, and fear from the process, and- at least in our mind- we're starting to get pretty good at it!

So I read this far, and you didn't answer the question. What's a Solanum?

Solanum is the genus that contains potatoes (S. tuberosum) and tomatoes (S. lycopersicum). Our idea was that machinery service should be as simple and unassuming as a potato, and the name stuck. The logo, by the way, is a crude outline of a plow moldboard.

Your website looks terrible. Why would you use design elements like this in a website for a truck repair business?

We used to use a serious website, but it bored us to death and left us lacking the inspiration to make a dent in the market we serve. If you're a boring person and want to be bored, you can view it at www.solanum-service.com

Why is your business named after a potato?

Are you saying it should be named after something else instead? Please submit suggestions to our marketing department ( info@solanum-service.com ). All suggestions must be better than potatoes to be considered.

Can you guys fix my car?

Nah. We're not great at fixing cars, so we're happy to refer you to someone local who is.

Do you provide organic/eco friendly lubrication?

Believe it or not, this is a serious question we hear often. And yes, we do! Food-grade lubricants, most of which are plant-based and bio-degradeable, are available off-the-shelf for most machinery lubrication needs, and at your request we can use these for a slight additional charge. We have also designed custom sustainable, plant-based lubrication programs for special situations. Get in touch and let's talk about our options!
